The left back joins Osasuna as a free agent after concluding his tenure with Getafe C.F.

Osasuna has signed defender Diego Rico, the club announced Wednesday. The Burgos native joins Los Rojillos as a free agent after spending the past three seasons with Getafe CF. Rico agreed to a one-year contract with a 10 million euro buyout clause. He passed his medical exam Wednesday morning at Clínica Universidad de Navarra and will be presented at a later date.

Diego Rico Salguero, born Feb. 23, 1993, in Burgos, joins Osasuna to strengthen its defense. He started his career in Burgos before turning professional with Zaragoza in Spain’s Segunda División from 2013 to 2016. Rico then advanced to top-flight football with Leganés (2016-18), played in the Premier League with Bournemouth (2018-21), and returned to LaLiga with Real Sociedad (2021-23). In the 2023-24 season, he joined Getafe CF on loan before making the move permanent.

Rico has made 185 appearances in Spain’s top division, 39 in the Premier League and nine in the Europa League with Real Sociedad. He is known for his intensity, speed on the ball and reliability in duels. Rico joins Osasuna on a one-year deal and will play under head coach Luis Miguel Ramis.
