Osasuna Fans Collect 105,000 Plastic Bottles at El Sadar, Exceeding Recycling Campaign Goal

Navarre’s Food Bank will receive a €5,000 donation due to the campaign’s success.

The campaign “Somos especiales, reciclamos” (We are unique, we recycle), an initiative aimed at raising recycling awareness, concluded Thursday morning at El Sadar. Representatives from Ecoembes, the government of Navarre and the Pamplona Commonwealth attended the closing ceremony at Club Atlético Osasuna’s stadium.

The initiative aimed to collect 100,000 plastic bottles at 14 Osasuna home matches during the 2025-26 season. If the goal was reached, Navarre’s Food Bank would receive €5,000 to support those at risk. The club and its fans not only met the target but surpassed it by collecting 105,000 containers.

Representatives from all the organizations gathered at Sala 1920, where Marisol Villar, president of Navarre’s Food Bank, received the check.

Osasuna President Luis Sabalza expressed satisfaction with the fans’ participation in the challenge.

“The initiative was a success, and we surpassed the goal. Our fans showed their commitment to recycling, and we were able to help the Food Bank, which is very satisfying,” Sabalza said.

Villar thanked the Rojillos for their support throughout the season.

“For us, this is a great help because everything counts. Every supporter contributed by recycling throughout the season. This initiative aligns with who we are,” Villar said.

On behalf of Ecoembes, Jose Arrancudiaga, head of waste for Navarre and the Basque Country, thanked everyone who made the campaign possible.

“I want to thank Osasuna, the government of Navarre, the Pamplona Commonwealth, and all the staff and fans who took part in this project. Thanks to them, it was possible. I am sure any upcoming challenge will be just as exciting,” Arrancudiaga said.

Francisco Javier Larrañeta, director of the Circular Economy and Innovation Service at the Department of Rural Development and Environment for the government of Navarre, added, “These projects are really helpful. This initiative proved to be successful, and we have to support it. Congratulations to all the fans.”

Miguel Ángel Díaz Francés, waste director at the Pamplona Commonwealth, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about recycling.

“Actions like these help us become more mindful and have a positive impact in Navarre. We congratulate everyone involved, and we are excited to support the Food Bank,” Díaz Francés said.
