Osasuna invests 3 million euros in Tajonar Sports Complex renovation

The Osasuna under-19 team was the first to train on the new fields at the Tajonar Sports Complex on Tuesday morning. The return of all academy teams and the ongoing demand for training spaces will be eased by these two new turf fields, which are part of the Futuro Tajonar project. The fields are expected to see increased use in the coming days as more teams return for training camp.

Both fields are adjacent to the A1 and A2 turf fields and will connect the current facilities with the new ones on recently reclaimed club land. The fields, which are part of Osasuna’s property, feature locker rooms, meeting rooms, coaches’ offices, a perimeter net, lighting and a small stand for fans. Notably, the stand is constructed from elements that were part of El Sadar before its renovation.

Osasuna has now invested just over 3 million euros in the Futuro Tajonar project, with about three-quarters of that amount allocated to the new turf fields. The locker rooms cost 800,000 euros, and labor was the largest expense at 533,442 euros. The turf cost 397,961 euros, the irrigation system 70,255 euros and lighting less than 60,000 euros. Additional costs for urban development, cable feeders, stands and other details remain. The remainder of the investment, just under 1 million euros, went to other parts of the project, most notably more than 500,000 euros for ground shifting to improve and shape the platforms for parking, the first-team building, the two natural grass fields and the future mini stadium.

The fields were funded by Plan Impulso, which has also helped Osasuna regain more than 200,000 square meters of land in Tajonar since 2022. Osasuna has paid 10.5 million euros and still owes 1 million euros to the government of Navarre, the land’s previous owner, due June 30, 2027. Total investment in Tajonar, excluding improvements over the years, is more than 13 million euros.

As of today, the club has held conversations with the five developers who have submitted a bid to lead the next phases of the project. In these meetings, the parties have discussed the next steps, including parking, the front office and first team building, as well as the two natural-grass fields.
