Australia vs. Uruguay: A World Cup Playoff with a Rojillo Flavor
The Electoral Board has overseen the process, which—under the club’s statutes—will take effect on Nov. 23.
Alfonso Ramírez, president of the Electoral Board, announced one of the major innovations for Osasuna’s upcoming General Assemblies, beginning with the session scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 23. In accordance with the statutes amended in November 2023, the club must now allow online participation in its assemblies. From now on, delegate members will be able to choose whether to attend in person or follow the meeting remotely from any mobile device or computer.
“There is now a website, www.asamblea.osasuna.es, where members can decide how they want to take part once they log in. We wanted to make the process as simple as possible because usernames and passwords can be a hurdle. So we’ve made it easy: each membership card includes a member number and a unique reference code known only to that member. With those details, members can log into the site and choose their preferred form of participation,” Ramírez explained.
Members who wish to attend in person do not need to complete any formalities. By default, the club will count them as attending the assembly in Baluarte. Those opting for online participation must visit the website and select the virtual option in advance. They may do so from now until noon on Friday, Nov. 21. Members can change their choice as many times as they wish before the deadline, but the final selection at noon on Nov.21 will be binding. Those who do not take any action will have in-person access by default, while those who select the online option will be able to participate only virtually and will not be admitted to the physical venue.
Ramírez also noted that access procedures for the in-person meeting on Nov. 23 will change. Members must bring their current-season membership card, as entry will be verified by scanning the card. If they do not have it, they may enter with the club documentation mailed to their home or with an ID card. However, the club urges members to bring their membership card to speed up entry.
Additionally, Ramírez emphasized that proxy voting is no longer allowed under the new statutes, as the introduction of online access provides members with full flexibility to participate directly.
“Members who choose the online option will log into the site again on Nov. 23. They’ll be able to watch a live video of the assembly and view each agenda item as it’s discussed. When a vote opens, members will see the relevant documentation and can cast or modify their vote until the system closes it. Once the voting period ends, the result is final. This process applies to all items on the agenda. For example, when electingcandidates to the club’s governing bodies, members may select up to twonames—no more,” Ramírez said.
The Electoral Board president added that the system ensures voter confidentiality: each member is identified only by an alphanumeric reference that confirms whether they have voted, but not how they voted. Each delegate member may also obtain a confirmation receipt of their vote if they wish.
