Tajonar Shares Its Methodology With Two Indonesian Youth Players

For the second time, Indonesia's PT LIB and Ekkono Method place their trust in Osasuna’s academy model.

Two academy players from Indonesia completed a two-week training session at Tajonar, the youth academy of Club Atlético Osasuna, as part of an international development initiative. This marks the second time that Ekkono Method and Indonesia's PT Liga Indonesia Baru (PT LIB) have chosen Tajonar to help develop young talent, following a similar visit by two players in March.

As with the previous exchange, the players are training with Osasuna's Cadete teams and are also immersing themselves in the cultural richness of the Navarra region.

"For us, it is a reward to welcome players from other countries and other leagues who trust Osasuna to be a reference and a guide when it comes to player development," said Ángel Alcalde, director of Tajonar. "At Osasuna, we've spent many years building a training program that is comprehensive, personalized, and innovative—recognized by LaLiga in recent years as one of the top youth academies, even alongside clubs that double or triple our budget. Yet we continue to compete with them on equal footing in terms of youth development."

In March, Tajonar was one of six Spanish academies selected by Ekkono Method and PT LIB as part of their "EPA Future Stars: Adventure in Spain!" program, which seeks to elevate the technical and tactical level of Indonesian youth players by sending 18 prospects abroad.

"Tajonar was the ideal destination for these young athletes," said Aitor Orive, head of international projects at Ekkono Method. "We were already familiar with the outstanding work being done at Osasuna, and our first experience in March exceeded every expectation. The philosophy, the treatment of our players, and the quality of training all left a lasting impression. Their commitment to talent development—along with the club's core values of humility, effort, and teamwork—made it an easy decision to return."

The players currently training at Tajonar are defender Peres Akwila Tjoe (Persija Jakarta) and midfielder Fardan Farras Prawita (Borneo FC). Both had originally been scheduled to train at Osasuna, but national team duties delayed their arrival.

"My experience so far is one of the best experiences," said Akwila. "So that I can become more advanced and get a lot of knowledge from here. It is very helpful because not only am I training in Indonesia, but I can also gain knowledge from other teams or countries, and that helps me think more progressively in the future and become a professional player."

"It will help my development because here is a very good team that has an excellent playing vision, in my opinion, so this will have a big influence on my future career," added Farras. "I found that the players' posture is much taller than in Indonesia, and the players here are stronger, have speed, and very good playing vision, so I think getting the opportunity to learn in Osasuna is very valuable for me."

In addition to football-specific training, the two players attended Spanish and English classes each morning and participated in cultural excursions throughout Navarra.

"Both players are doing an immersive two-week camp with our U-15 and U-16 teams. They are competing; the other day, they had the opportunity to head-to-head with them. They are working at an exceptional level in specific conditioning, technical and tactical areas," said Alcalde. "Osasuna is a leading club, and this is a great opportunity to be a guide and support to these young players, Indonesian clubs, as well as the league itself. To help them reach those improvement goals and football development."

The performance of Akwila and Farras has also impressed their hosts, reflecting the strides Indonesian football has made in recent years.

"[Indonesian football] It's an unknown football for us because, when it comes to football, our country is a world leader in that regard, right? So, we become a reference for everyone else," Alcalde explained. "We are learning that the level in those countries can be similar to ours. The two players we are hosting indeed have an exceptional level; both have represented Indonesia at the youth level, and they possess a high level of skill. We need to recognize that. You can see it during the training sessions."

Cross-cultural programs like this are highly beneficial for Osasuna, providing valuable international exposure and helping the club reach emerging football markets. Just as significantly, hosting foreign players enhances the experience of Osasuna's academy prospects.

"Fardan and Peres have been here for two weeks, and they are learning firsthand what our academy looks like and what football development at a club like Osasuna entails," Alcalde said. "They're learning from us, and we're learning from them. Having them here helps our players appreciate Osasuna, what they have to offer in the academy, and what Osasuna provides them every day. Additionally, it encourages them to be more open and learn about other cultures on a personal level. At a human level, this is priceless."
