Construction Begins on "Futuro Tajonar" Project
Today marks the official start of construction on the "Futuro Tajonar" project. Geotechnical studies of the site were conducted last November, along with preliminary work on the plot where a future public parking area will be located. However, beginning today, work will proceed without interruption. On Tuesday, May 20, the Club received a construction permit from the Municipality of Valle de Aranguren authorizing the necessary earthmoving across the entire plot. Over the coming months, this will allow for the development of the various platforms that will support the future stadium, first-team building and offices, and training fields.
This morning, fencing was installed around the future public parking area, which already had a permit and will be the first part of the site to undergo full development. With the license granted on May 20, Osasuna is now authorized to begin grading and preparing the land for the full scope of the project.
The new parking lot will offer approximately 600 spaces and serve the training facilities. It will occupy 19,104 square meters on a parcel loaned to the Club by the Municipality of Valle de Aranguren for 20 years. The project's centerpiece includes the construction of new training fields, a building for the first team, and a small stadium that will host matches for Osasuna Promesas and Osasuna Femenino. These developments will be built on land owned by the Club, which in 2022 recovered 166,000 square meters of property lost in 2014.
Major construction—specifically involving structural work—is expected to begin in September, pending a separate and more complex administrative process. OFS Architects, the firm responsible for overseeing the construction, is managing this stage of the project. In the meantime, the recently granted permit will allow the project phases—parking, earthworks, and construction of fields and buildings—to proceed without delay. Barring weather-related disruptions, work is expected to continue steadily until completion, projected in just over two years.
Osasuna will invest €18 million in expanding its Tajonar training complex. The project includes a 2,800-seat stadium, two natural grass pitches, two artificial turf fields, and a two-story building to house the first team's daily operations and the Club's administrative offices. Much of the funding will come from the Plan Impulso initiative, funds from which the Club has not yet drawn but will now begin utilizing. The remaining costs will be covered through the Club's own resources over the next two seasons.
In addition to the 166,000 square meters acquired in 2022—on which the Futuro Tajonar project will be built—the Club recently purchased an additional 28,000 square meters for €4 million (plus VAT). In total, Osasuna has reclaimed €10.5 million worth of the assets it lost in 2014. The Club has also fully repaid its debts to the regional tax authority from that period. These actions have significantly strengthened Osasuna's financial position. Once without any property following the 2014 crisis, the Club now holds nearly €11 million in real estate assets at Tajonar.
