Osasuna and El Sadar Reunite With Victory After Defeating Girona 2-1

Forward Ante Budimir and midfielder Pablo Ibáñez scored goals, and the Rojillos' strong defensive performance secured three points.

Club Atlético Osasuna (8-14-9, 38 points) earned an important 2–1 win over Girona Fútbol Club (9-7-15, 34 points) on Saturday at El Sadar. Forward Ante Budimir and midfielder Pablo Ibáñez scored goals, and a strong defensive performance secured three points for the Rojillos.

Osasuna started quickly, creating early chances through lateral crosses. Budimir and midfielder Rubén García tested Girona’s defense, but goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga kept the match level. Girona gradually gained control and found the net through midfielder Arnaut Danjuma, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

The hosts responded with dangerous transitions. Midfielder Aimar forced a save from distance, and Budimir missed narrowly after a rebound. Girona replied with a threatening free kick that goalkeeper Sergio Herrera handled well. Osasuna eventually broke through when Aimar delivered a pinpoint cross that Budimir headed home to make it 1–0. Girona nearly leveled before halftime, but defender Enzo Boyomo cleared a shot off the line.

After the break, Osasuna pushed for a second goal but struggled to create clear chances. Girona dominated possession but was limited to long-range shots and crosses, which Herrera and the backline comfortably dealt with. Forward Cristhian Stuani scored on a rebound, but the goal was again ruled out for offside.

Substitutions gave Osasuna fresh energy, and Ibáñez extended the lead with a low strike from the edge of the area. Girona pressed late, with forward Yáser Asprilla scoring from distance to cut the deficit, but Osasuna held on to secure the win.

Next, Los Rojillos will visit Real Valladolid on Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at the José Zorrilla Stadium.
