Osasuna Closes England Tour With 2-1 Victory Over Norwich City

A last-minute goal by forward Asier Bonel secures win for Osasuna

Club Atlético Osasuna rallied to defeat Norwich City, 2-1, at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon. Norwich took the lead just after the hour mark through defender Harry Darling, but Osasuna responded quickly when forward Raúl García converted a penalty to tie the match. Forward Asier Bonel scored the game-winner in stoppage time from a difficult angle.

Norwich started the match pressing the Osasuna backline. In the sixth minute, goalkeeper Aitor Fernández made a save after midfielder Jacob Wright fired from outside the box. Norwich kept up the pressure, and 10 minutes later, midfielder Andre Brooks appeared to have scored the opening goal, but it was ruled offside. Osasuna responded and began to control the game by pressing forward and challenging the home side's backline. In the 31st minute, midfielder Lucas Torró headed a ball that narrowly missed the target following a corner kick. Shortly after, midfielder Rubén García sent a free kick wide.

In the second half, Osasuna took control by winning possession and creating more space in the attacking third. However, in the 61st minute, Norwich struck first. Darling finished a cross from midfielder Matěj Jurásek from close range. Five minutes later, forward Kike Barja collected a rebound inside the box and drew a penalty. Raúl García converted from the spot to tie the game. In the 70th minute, midfielder Aimar hit the crossbar. In stoppage time, Osasuna continued to press, and Bonel secured the victory with a chip shot over goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic from a tight angle.

Osasuna will return to Pamplona to prepare for a friendly against SSC Napoli at Castel di Sangro on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CET (5:30 p.m. BST, 12:30 p.m. ET).
