Osasuna Calls 22 Players for Season Finale Against Getafe
Los Rojillos nearly completed a comeback when forward Víctor Muñoz tied the match early in the second half, but a quick response from forward Kike García sealed the win for the visitors.
Club Atlético Osasuna (11-9-17, 42 points) fell to RCD Espanyol (12-9-16, 45 points), 2-1, at El Sadar on Sunday afternoon in the last home match of the season for Los Rojillos. Forward Víctor Muñoz scored early in the second half to tie the match after defender Carlos Romero scored for the visitors, but forward Kike García responded quickly to secure the win for the Catalan side. With the loss, Osasuna will need a result against Getafe next week to ensure its place in the Primera División.
Osasuna started the match seeking to control play and create chances. In the 12th minute, forward Ante Budimir volleyed from inside the box, but his attempt went over the crossbar. Espanyol responded and took the lead with their only shot on target of the half, as Romero fired in from outside the box following a free kick. Los Rojillos pushed for an equalizer and came closest when midfielder Rubén García shot from close range, but goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic made the save. A few minutes later, midfielder Lucas Torró and defender Enzo Boyomo each had chances; first, Romero blocked Torró's shot, and on the rebound, Boyomo's effort missed the target. Before halftime, Muñoz curled a shot that Dmitrovic stopped, and García had an opportunity blocked by defenders.
In the second half, Osasuna found the equalizer when Muñoz scored from outside the box, but Espanyol responded quickly and regained the lead three minutes later when Kike García finished from close range. Osasuna continued to press, sending crosses into the box, but the Catalan defense held firm. Budimir and forward Raúl García both forced saves from Dmitrovic, but neither could find the back of the net.
Osasuna will close out the 2025-26 season on Saturday, May 23, traveling to the Coliseum to face Getafe. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. local (8 p.m. BST, 3 p.m. ET).
