Club Atlético Osasuna triumphed over Athletic Club with a 1-0 victory in the XI Euskal Herria Txapela – Copa Eurorregión held in Lasesarre, Barakaldo, on Thursday night. A late goal from homegrown defender Asier Osambela secured the win for Los Rojillos, allowing them to lift the trophy for the third time since the tournament began in 2017.
The match commenced with both teams evenly matched and unable to penetrate each other’s defenses. The first significant threat came from midfielder Rubén García, whose free-kick from the edge of the box was saved by goalkeeper Álex Padilla. Midway through the first half, Osasuna’s goalkeeper, Aitor Fernández, denied forward Nico Serrano in a one-on-one situation.
In the second half, Osasuna maintained pressure on the Bilbao side. Forward Iker Benito attempted a long-range shot with his left foot, but it soared over the crossbar. In the 73rd minute, Raúl García found himself in the box but was unable to bypass the goalkeeper. Just minutes later, Osambela capitalized on a loose ball following a free kick, breaking the deadlock and scoring the game-winner.
