Osasuna Calls 22 Players for Season Finale Against Getafe
Kit inspired by the team that earned promotion in 1980 and established itself in Spain’s top flight with a vibrant style of play
Club Atlético Osasuna and Macron will honor the team known as “Los Indios,” coached by Pepe Alzate from 1979 to 1983, with a retro jersey for LaLiga’s first-ever retro matchday.
The club and the Italian manufacturer have designed a classic kit inspired by those worn by players such as José ManuelEcheverría, Enrique Martín, Patxi Iriguibel and Clemente Iriarte. The jersey will be worn during Osasuna’s match against Real Betis at El Sadar on the weekend of April 11-12.
The jersey’s standout feature is the crest. Embroidered on Osasuna’s traditional red, the emblem appears in a larger size than the current version, echoing the one worn by the players who secured promotion in 1980 and later established the club in the top division with an attacking, vertical and dynamic style. The crest itself is not the modern version but the one used in the 1980s, featuring a light blue background behind the lion of Pamplona and surrounded by the chains of Navarre.
Other notable elements include a V-neck collar and trimmed sleeve cuffs. The material used is “eco piola,” designed to evoke the cotton fabrics of the era while incorporating breathable and sustainable textile technology, consistent with Macron’s production standards. The commemorative jersey will also feature LaLiga’s former logo on the sleeve, which all teams will wear during the retro matchday. The shorts will be Osasuna’s classic navy blue with an embroidered crest, while the socks will be black with a red turnover, in keeping with tradition.
Limited edition available exclusively to members
The jersey created to honor Alzate’s team will be produced in a limited run. Identical to those worn by the players against Real Betis, the shirts will be priced at 140 euros. Club members will have priority access to purchase the limited edition, which will be presented in a commemorative box. Details of the purchasing process will be announced in the coming days.
