Vicente Moreno: “Earning a point here is positive, but it feels like we left two on the table”
Osasuna head coach Vicente Moreno shared his thoughts on the draw at the Benito Villamarín Stadium.
Moreno addressed the media following his team's 1-1 draw against Real Betis and began by commending his players: "I want to congratulate my players. They put in a tremendous effort and played a great match, fully aware of the difficulty of playing in this stadium against a top team. It's no coincidence Betis are fighting for a Champions League spot and are Conference League finalists. We're pleased with the point. Before the match, earning anything here would have been seen as positive, but after watching how it unfolded, I have the feeling we left two points behind. We had enough chances to finish the match. It's that feeling you get when you push until the end and still don't get what you believe you deserve."
The Osasuna boss also admitted that his side could have come away with more. "That's the feeling I have. Surely others will see it differently, but undeniably, we had enough chances to win the game. The data is there—the expected goals, the opportunities—we didn't make that up. I felt like we missed a great chance to win at a difficult venue. And when you get that kind of opportunity, you have to take it. We're fighting to qualify for Europe too, and of course, three points would have brought us closer than one. As I said before the game, regardless of today's result, our chances depend on what we do at El Sadar. We have two home matches left, and while this stadium is tough, so is ours. El Sadar is a difficult ground for opponents, and that's where we'll be fighting over the next two games for a spot in Europe. Obviously, three points would have taken us closer, but one is better than none. Now it's behind us, and we focus on what's next," he concluded.
