Osasuna earns a point on the road after a 1-1 draw with Las Palmas

Midfielder Aimar scored the opener early in the second half, but midfielder Adnan Januzaj tied the game in the stoppage time.

Club Atlético Osasuna (6-9-6, 27 points) earned a point after a 1-1 draw against Unión Deportiva Las Palmas (6-5-10, 23 points) at Estadio Gran Canaria on Friday night. Los Rojillos took the lead eight minutes into the second half thanks to midfielder Aimar, but midfielder Adnan Januzaj scored the equalizer in the 98th minute.

The game started with Las Palmas trying to put goalkeeper Sergio Herrera to the test with long-range shots, but the rojillo goalkeeper stood his ground. In the 12th minute, Osasuna had its first chance as midfielder Rubén García fired a free kick from 20 yards out, but the shot missed the crossbar. As the half ended, forward Ante Budimir collected a backheel pass from midfielder Jon Moncayola but was stopped by goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen. Minutes later, the midfielder Kike Barja blasted a shot after counterattack but hit the woodwork.

Osasuna began the second half building on what they did during the first half, and four minutes into it, Budimir received a low-cross from defender Jesús Areso, but his attempt missed the target. In the 53rd minute, Aimar found a rebound inside the box and did not hesitate to place it inside the goal. Midway through the half, midfielder Dário Essugo saw a second yellow card for dissent and was ejected from the match. Los Rojillos tried to increase the lead but couldn’t find the back of the net. Forward Raúl García and defender Abel Bretones had chances but couldn’t capitalize on them. In stoppage time, Las Palmas won a free kick near the Rojillo box, and Januzaj shot a touch on the wall, which sent the ball inside the net.

Osasuna’s next match is against Real Sociedad on Sunday, February 2, at El Sadar in Week 22 of LaLiga EA Sports. Kickoff is set at 6:30 p.m. CET (5:30 p.m. GMT/12:30 p.m. ET).
