Osasuna Opens Season With Scoreless Draw Against Levante

Los Rojillos created several opportunities but could not break the deadlock in an evenly matched contest.

Club Atlético Osasuna (0-1-0, 1 point) opened the 2026-27 LaLiga EA Sports season with a 0-0 draw against Levante (0-1-1, 1 point) at El Sadar on Monday night. Los Rojillos generated several chances, but Levante goalkeeper Matthew Ryan kept the match scoreless in a closely contested game.

Osasuna threatened immediately in the first minute, winning a corner kick and nearly scoring the opener. Midfielder Rubén García delivered the corner to the far post, where defender Jorge Herrando headed the ball toward goal, but Ryan stopped it on the line. The match then settled into a balanced affair until later in the half, when Levante midfielder Roger Brugé volleyed a shot from inside the box off the crossbar.

Shortly after the half-hour mark, García had two attempts. In the 33rd minute, the Xátiva native fired from outside the box, but Ryan made the save. Three minutes later, Osasuna earned a free kick, but García's effort missed the top right corner. In the final minutes of the half, midfielder Iker Muñoz sent a long pass to Jon Moncayola, but Ryan stretched to keep the ball out.

In the second half, Osasuna created the best early chances. Forward Ante Budimir first tested the Australian goalkeeper with a header, and five minutes later, the Croatian international dribbled past Ryan, but his shot was cleared off the line by defender Aïsa Mandi. Los Rojillos continued to press forward with crosses but could not find the finishing touch.

Osasuna will now prepare to face Celta Vigo at Estadio Abanca Balaidos on Thursday, Aug. 27. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. CET (7:30 p.m. BST, 2:30 p.m. ET).
