Osasuna Re-signs Kike Barja Through 2027-28 Season

The club and its captain have agreed to a two-year contract extension

Club Atlético Osasuna has re-signed captain Kike Barja through June 30, 2028. The homegrown midfielder will continue his career with his boyhood club for at least two more seasons. The contract includes a 15 million euro buyout clause in LaLiga EA Sports. Barja is scheduled to speak with the media at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow in a news conference at El Sadar.

Next year, Enrique Barja Afonso (born April 1, 1997, in Noáin, Navarre) will mark his 22nd consecutive season with Osasuna, after joining the club as an eight-year-old. Barja rose through the Tajonar youth system and made his first-team debut on May 20, 2017, at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. He became a regular during the 2017-18 season and scored his first professional goal against Real Valladolid. Since then, he has helped Osasuna earn promotion to the Primera División, avoid relegation for seven consecutive seasons, reach a Copa del Rey final, secure a European spot and the club’s first Spanish Super Cup.

Barja has made 232 official appearances for Osasuna. The 2025-26 season was his first as team captain; he represents the club’s values and serves as a role model for young players. His leadership on and off the field was crucial to Osasuna securing its place in LaLiga EA Sports.
