Fundación Osasuna Board Meets to Analyze, Plan Women’s Football Structure

Board Accepts Mai Garde’s Resignation as Sporting Director

The Fundación Osasuna Board met Wednesday to analyze and plan Osasuna Femenino’s upcoming season. During the meeting, the board accepted Mai Garde’s resignation as sporting director for the first team and affiliate, ending her three-season tenure leading the team. The board thanks Garde for her service.

The board decided the Osasuna Academy, Tajonar—which previously led the women’s second affiliate—will oversee the entire women’s football structure. The teams will be led by a group including current youth technical director Julen Borja and women’s academy coordinator Estíbaliz del Río.

This decision reaffirms the club’s commitment to women’s football, which has been reflected in its budget. The women’s side had a budget of 500,000 euros in 2021-22; 1.3 million euros in 2022-23; and 1.4 million euros and 1.7 million euros in subsequent seasons. In the most recent season, the club provided more than 1 million euros for the women’s team, but plans to gradually scale back to previous levels. The team reached the promotion playoff against R.C.D. Espanyol in the 2023-24 season, with up to 10 local players in the squad.

As part of its commitment to player development, Osasuna will create a youth team for the upcoming season—a project Tajonar had already started. The women’s structure will include six teams next season: the first team, first and second affiliates, youth team, kids’ team, and a football eight squad.
