A Last-Minute Goal Propels Osasuna to 2-1 Win Over Getafe

Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci addressed the media after the team’s 2-1 win over Getafe.
“Happy with the result, but we need to adjust quite a few things from today’s game,” Lisci said. “There have been many days in the first seven matchdays when we deserved more and didn’t get it. Today we did, so sometimes football is fair—not in this game, but over the course of eight rounds.”
On the match itself, Lisci noted: “We struggled with the ball. They were very good without it, but our team knew how to compete and believe. We hadn’t come from behind to win in 95 games. That shows small improvements, but competitively we stayed in the game, and set pieces gave us points, as they sometimes do.”
Lisci added that the win “was needed by the whole team, and obviously by me too. Here, we are all one—myself, the team, Osasuna, the sporting department. Everyone needed this victory.”
He continued: “I told you before the match that if we played well and lost, the feeling would have been bad. But playing a poor game and winning gives the feeling that we want to improve. You improve calmly. In the first half, there was a bit of nervousness—when you’re not calm, you can’t play well, can’t be patient with the ball, you rush. The club deserved and needed this win, but after the international break, we need to win again. We need to win every match.”
“The fans were incredible”
Lisci also praised the supporters. “The fans were amazing after the game resumed. My ears were hurting from the cheering. I want to thank them because even when we may have deserved to be booed, they supported us the whole time. That’s how you improve things.”
