Osasuna Draws With Elche at El Sadar, 1-1

The Osasuna boss addresssed the media following his team's 1-1 draw.
Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci spoke at apress conference following his team’s 1-1 draw against Elche at El Sadar.
“In football, the details make the difference, and we didn’t take care of them, so we conceded the goal,” Lisci said. He added that the result means “we’ve drawn and gained one more point. The team is still doing many things well, but against Espanyol we deserved more, against Villarreal we deserved more, today we could have won… If it happens three times, it means we are not competing properly.” He concluded, “We want to win, but we’re not competing, so we need to learn how to compete.”
Lisci also pointed out that “there are situations that shouldn’t happen. The last few minutes need to be managed differently. You have to compete. Some teams compete very well, and some teams, like ours, need to improve. I don’t want to go into details or name anyone, but certain things need to be done better.”
He said the team needs to improve its “management of the final minutes because chances can arise—sometimes from a set piece, sometimes from the opponent playing out, sometimes from pressing. They created two goal-scoring opportunities, but aside from that, we were in the game and doing well.”
“Playing well and being organized doesn’t make you win. What makes you win is competing. The line is very fine, and we need to reach that zone,” Lisci added. He concluded, “Today’s match should serve as alesson. If it does, I’m happy the team drew this way. Now it’s up to me and the coaching staff to show the players the details we need to improve in those minutes to take the next step in competitiveness.”
