Alessio Lisci: "As a unit, we could have done more"

Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci addressed the media after his team’s 1-0 loss to Espanyol.

“It’s clear that when you have such clear chances, you need to convert them because it’s hard to get another opportunity,” Lisci said. “As a unit, we could have done more. I think we didn’t start well at the beginning of each half, but we can’t just focus on being better than the opponent in certain parts of the game. In this sport, you can play poorly, take one chance, and that can change the match.”

Lisci also reflected on his team’s overall performance after the first three matches of the season.

“I feel good about us because, after our first two matches, we showed good performances. It was tough in Madrid, and we did well against Valencia. Today might not have been our best performance of the first three matches; we had good stretches, but unfortunately, they didn’t last as long as they should have. As chance creation goes, I’m happy. We created clear opportunities, but in the end, I don’t think we deserved the win, even if we had achieved it. A draw would have been the fairest outcome; at the beginning, they had chances, and in the second half, they scored. When these things happen in a game, especially on the road, any advantage is crucial.”
