Alessio Lisci: “We deserved and needed this win”

The team led by Alessio Lisci earned the victory thanks to goals from defenders Abel Bretones and Alejandro Catena.
Osasuna (3-1-4, 10 points) claimed three points against Getafe (3-2-3, 11 points) after overcoming a 1-0 deficit thanks to goals from defenders Abel Bretones and Alejandro Catena. The Madrid side went ahead in the first half with a strike from forward Borja Mayoral, but the Asturian fullback equalized before halftime. In the final minutes, Catena sealed the comeback with a header from a corner.
Osasuna began the match by winning duels and pressing well, which allowed the home side to win back several balls in the opponent’s half. Getafe gradually gained control of possession against an Osasuna side looking to threaten on the counterattack. Head coach Alessio Lisci’s team created chances through several individual actions from forward Víctor Muñoz, although none troubled goalkeeper David Soria.
In the 22nd minute, Getafe went ahead through Mayoral, who finished off a cross from midfielder Luis Milla. Osasuna attempted to react immediately with a cross from Muñoz, which forward Ante Budimir headed over the bar. The Croatian striker went close again with another header that missed just wide, although the play was ultimately ruled offside. A spectacular goal from Bretones from the edge of the box allowed Osasuna to draw level just before halftime.
In the second half, defender Domingos Duarte headed a Getafe corner wide. Midfielder Rubén García tried his luck with a free kick that goalkeeper David Soria saved with his foot. Minutes later, Bretones sent in a low cross that failed to find a finisher. Osasuna kept creating danger through a solo run from forward Raúl García, whose shot was once again denied by the visiting goalkeeper. A cross from midfielder Kike Barja nearly gave Osasuna the lead after deflecting off a Getafe defender, but Soria intervened again to send the ball out for a corner. From that set piece came the winning goal, as Catena’s header beat Soria and sent El Sadar into celebration.
The next match for Lisci’s team will be Saturday, Oct. 18, at 9 p.m., against Atlético Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
