Osasuna Promesas defeated Unionistas de Salamanca 1-0 in its 2025-26Primera Federación season opener at Estadio Reina Sofía on Saturday night. An overall strong performance from Los Rojillos was capped off by a last-minute goal from forward Dani González, who played his first match since tearing the ACL in his right knee before the start of the 2024-25 season.

The match began with Unionistas pressing near goalkeeper Dimitrios Stamatakis' goal, but the Rojillo defense effectively cleared danger. As the game progressed, Osasuna became more assertive. Forward Carlos Lumbreras nearly opened the scoring with a shot from inside the box that defenders managed to parry away. In the 40th minute, Lumbreras had another opportunity from outside the box, but the Unionistas ' goalkeeper made a crucial save to keep the match scoreless.

In the second half, the Navarrese side continued to threaten. Midfielder Jon García created the first chance with a corner kick into the box, but no Rojillo could convert. As the match neared its conclusion, Unionistas ramped up their offensive efforts, coming close to scoring. However, Stamatakis was there to deny them, making an impressive stretch to stop a dangerous free kick. Just when it appeared the match would end in a stalemate, González seized a brilliant through ball from midfielderMiguel Auría. He calmly slotted it home after breaking free in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper.

With their first win of the season secured, Osasuna Promesas will now shift its focus to their upcoming match against Ourense FC at the Tajonar Sports Complex on Sunday, September 7. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CET.
