Osasuna Keeps Clean Sheet, Earns Point on Road at Elche

Goalkeeper Sergio Herrera Makes Five Saves to Secure Draw

Club Atlético Osasuna (8-6-10, 30 points) kept a clean sheet and earned a point on the road in a 0-0 draw against Elche (5-10-9, 25 points) at Martínez Valero on Friday night. Goalkeeper Sergio Herrera made five saves for Los Rojillos, helping the team extend its unbeaten streak to five matches.

Elche had the first opportunity early in the match when forward Álvaro Rodríguez fired from outside the box, but Herrera parried the ball away. As the match progressed, Osasuna began to create chances with crosses. Forward Víctor Muñoz had a chance after controlling the ball well, but his shot was blocked by a defender. Elche responded with two dangerous chances: Álvaro sent a shot over the crossbar from inside the box, and forward Lucas Cepeda’s effort was blocked by defender Javi Galán.

In the second half, Osasuna pressed forward and created chances in the Elche penalty area. Forward Ante Budimir had the first chance after receiving a pass from Aimar, but his shot was deflected by a defender. On the ensuing corner, Budimir’s header was also stopped by the defense. Elche responded as forward André Da Silva found himself one-on-one with Herrera twice, but the Osasuna goalkeeper made crucial saves on both occasions.

Osasuna continued to press, frequently finding space in the Elche penalty area. In the 63rd minute, Budimir was brought down by defender Pedro Bigas, but neither the referee nor VAR awarded a penalty. Minutes later, Aimar dribbled past two defenders and set up Raúl García, whose shot was blocked; Valentín Rosier collected the rebound, but his attempt was also stopped by the defense. In the closing minutes, both sides had chances to win it. Herrera made another key save on Álvaro, while Aimar’s late shot from inside the box narrowly missed the target.

Osasuna will host Real Madrid on Saturday, Feb. 21, at El Sadar. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. GMT, 10:30 a.m. ET).
