Defender Unai García to Bid Farewell to Osasuna Fans on Sunday at El Sadar

The team captain will not return to Osasuna next season after 25 years at the club

Osasuna captain Unai García will not return to Club Atlético Osasuna next season, ending a 25-year association with the club—including 10 uninterrupted seasons with the first team. Fans will have the opportunity to bid him farewell during a tribute at El Sadar on Sunday, following the match against Real Club Deportivo Espanyol.

Unai García Lugea (born Feb. 3, 1992, in Esquíroz, Navarre) has spent virtually his entire footballing life at Osasuna. He joined the club's academy in the 2000–01 season from Ikastola Amaiur and rose through its ranks, making his first-team debut on June 1, 2013, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Since the 2014–15 season, García has been a fixture in the senior squad, with the exception of a brief loan to Club Deportivo Tudelano. He has made 214 official appearances for Osasuna: 98 in La Liga, 98 in Segunda División and 18 in the Copa del Rey.

A product of the youth system, García played a key role in two promotions to the top flight, a Copa del Rey final, a return to European competition, and six consecutive seasons in La Liga. Following the departure of Roberto Torres, he was named team captain alongside David García and has served as the sole captain since last summer.

Club Atlético Osasuna expresses its profound gratitude to Unai García for his professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment — and for being a role model to every player in the club’s academy.
