Vicente Moreno: "When you see a result like today's, it means a lot of things were missing"
Osasuna’s head coach speaks to the media following loss to Villarreal
Osasuna head coach Vicente Moreno addressed the media following his team's defeat to Villarreal on Saturday.
"When you see a result like today's, it means many things were missing," Moreno said. "Obviously, it starts with conceding in the first minute against a team like Villarreal. It felt far too easy, and that makes everything more complicated."
The coach reflected on the match, acknowledging Villarreal's quality: "Just when we had the sense that we were getting back into the game, they struck again with flashes of danger. That happens when you face a team with quality in both boxes. We knew it could happen, but we didn't react, and going into halftime down 3-0, it's difficult. From there, we set ourselves the goal of not conceding and trying to win the second half. I knew that if we could score one or two, like we did, we could get back into it—but then we conceded again, and that made it even harder."
"I had the feeling that we made things too easy for a team with a lot of quality," he added. "But now we need to close the chapter on this match and focus on what's ahead."
Finally, the coach from Massanassa expressed his disappointment for the fans. "We feel bad for our people. You saw them, like always, supporting us up in the stands," he said. "They're hopeful we can stay in the fight and maybe even improve our position. It wasn't possible this week, but there are still four matches left. We're still in it, and now we have to focus on the next match—on winning it. If we do, I'm sure we'll feel a lot better next week."
