Osasuna Falls 4-2 to Villarreal at Estadio de la Cerámica

Club Atlético Osasuna (10-14-10, 44 points) falls 4-2 against Villarreal (16-10-8, 58 points) at Estadio de la Cerámica on Saturday afternoon. Los Groguets took an early lead and went into halftime with a comfortable advantage. In the second half, Los Rojillos looked to cut the deficit but ultimately came up short.

Villarreal opened the scoring early through forward Ayoze Pérez. Osasuna tried to respond and pushed forward with attacks down both flanks and several corner kicks, but the hosts remained solid at the back. Forward Ante Budimir attempted to equalize with a long-range shot caught by goalkeeper Luiz Júnior. However, Villarreal struck twice more before the break, with forward Thierno Barry and Ayoze making it 3-0.

After the restart, Villarreal nearly added a fourth when a shot in the first minute hit the crossbar. Osasuna pulled one back through midfielder Rubén García, who slotted a low shot into the corner after receiving a pass from Budimir at the top of the box. Villarreal answered quickly, with midfielder Nicolas Pépé scoring the fourth just minutes later.

Late in the match, Osasuna created a double chance with efforts from midfielder Aimar and forward Bryan Zaragoza, both parried away by Júnior. Soon after, the referee headed towards the VAR screen to review a potential foul on defender Rubén Peña and awarded a penalty. Aimar converted to make it 4-2. Osasuna looked for another goal in stoppage time, with defender Enzo Boyomo heading over the bar.

Osasuna’s next match is Sunday, May 11, against Real Betis at Estadio Benito Villamarín. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. in the Week 35 fixture of LALIGA EA Sports.
