Osasuna and Alavés play to a 2-2 draw
Forward Ante Budimir and midfielder Rubén García scored for Los Rojillos.
Club Atlético Osasuna (6-6-4, 24 points) and Deportivo Alavés (4-3-9, 15 points) played a 2-2 draw at El Sadar on Sunday afternoon. Los Rojillos had to rally from behind as forward Kike García scored for the visiting side seconds into the match. Forward Ante Budimir opened the way for the Navarrese side while midfielder Rubén García gave them the lead. However, it was only momentarily, as García recorded his brace a few minutes later.
Alavés took the lead in the game's first play as García headed a cross past goalkeeper Sergio Herrera 42 seconds into the match. Osasuna tried to find the equalizer but couldn't because of several interruptions. Defender Abel Bretones had the best chances; however, his opportunities missed the net. As the first half ended, the referee reviewed a possible foul on Budimir inside the box but didn't concede the penalty as he considered defender Alejandro Catena to have committed a foul in the previous play.
The Navarrese side took a step forward in the second half and gained field control. Catena had the first opportunity, but his chance ended in a corner kick. It was there that Budimir tied the match. In the 63rd minute, García gave the lead to the home side when placed the ball into the back of the net from a free kick at the edge of the box. Five minutes, Kike scored his second goal of the day for the final equalizer. Los Rojillos created the most chances from that moment but couldn't have a game-winner goal.
Osasuna will be back in action on Saturday, December 14, to face RCD Espanyol at RCDE Stadium in Week 17 of LaLiga EA Sports. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CET (1 p.m. GMT/8 a.m. ET).
