Osasuna brings the three points home after a 2-0 victory at Real Sociedad

Two assists by forward Bryan Zaragoza and a solid defensive effort led by goalkeeper Sergio Herrera gave the win to Los Rojillos

Club Atlético Osasuna (5-3-3, 18 points) defeated Real Sociedad (3-3-5, 11 points) 2-0 at the Reale Arena on Sunday night. Forward Bryan Zaragoza's assists to midfielder Lucas Torró and forward Ante Budimir, along with goalkeeper Sergio Herrera's nine saves and a clean sheet propelled Los Rojillos to their first road win.

The game started with both teams putting each other to the test. Real Sociedad led the possession and tried to get close to Herrera, but the Rojillo backline proved challenging to beat and stopped them. Osasuna knocked at the door in a counterattack as Zaragoza got one-on-one with goalkeeper Álex Remiro, but the attacker could not finish the play. In the 23rd minute, Zaragoza played a cross to Torró off a corner, and the midfielder headed the ball to take the lead. 10 minutes later, Budimir extended the lead with a powerful shot from inside the area, once again Zaragoza dished the assist following a solo effort. As the first half ended, the referee pointed to the spot after defender Jon Aramburu knocked defender Enzo Boyomo inside the box, but upon VAR review, he reversed the decision.

In the second half, Herrera proved crucial as he stopped several attempts by the txuriurdin side. Head coach Vicente Moreno's team fought with a solid defensive effort to keep the result. Plus, Los Rojillos created some chances to increase the lead. The clearest opportunity came when midfielder Aimar Oroz found Budimir inside the box, but the Croatian couldn't give the right direction to the ball. Real Sociedad kept putting Herrera to the test, but the backline and the keeper prevailed and kept the clean sheet. As the game ended, the referee called for another penalty, this time favoring Real Sociedad, but upon review, he reversed the call. As the referee reviewed the play, he ejected Moreno.

Osasuna will now prepare to begin its Copa del Rey journey when it faces Chiclana CF in the tournament's first round on Wednesday, October 30. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CET (6 p.m. GMT/2 p.m. ET).
