Reforms in the Tajonar Sports Complex began

Tajonar, Spain (Tuesday, April 16, 2024) - This week, Osasuna began the first phase of the construction and renovation of the Tajonar facilities. To improve the quality of its work with the quarry, Osasuna will use funds from Boost LaLiga.

This phase began yesterday and will replace the artificial grass on four fields in Tajonar. These works have started before scheduled to arrive in time for the start of next season so that the academy teams can already benefit from the improvements. The second phase of this project, which consists of a new building and training fields for the first team, will be presented in the summer.

In the third phase, scheduled to begin at the start of the 2024-2025 season, all the necessary permits will be processed for construction on the plot of land acquired by the club in Tajonar (fourth phase). Finally, in the fifth phase, the current facilities will be adapted so that the work of the entire structure of the rojillo sports complex can make the most crucial leap in quality since 1982 when Tajonar was built.

In this first phase, work has begun on the A1 field. Work is currently underway to remove the old artificial turf and then proceed to install the new one. Work on A1 will continue for almost a month. On May 6, work is scheduled to begin on A3, May 22 on A5, and June 10 on A4. The whole process will be completed before the start of the Sanfermines and, therefore, ready for the preseason of the club's different teams. No work will be done on the A2 field since it was replaced in the summer of 2018.

FieldTurf Poligras will carry out this work, and the club plans to invest just under 1 million euros. This action will significantly improve the facility's artificial grass fields, allowing greater use and higher-quality work.

Asset recovery

The reforms of the Tajonar facilities, the most ambitious since 1982, will be carried out with funds from Boost LaLiga (CVC). It was these funds that allowed, in 2021, Osasuna to repurchase from Navarre's government 166,000 square meters of heritage lost after the devastating crisis of 2014. The club paid the regional government 6.5 million euros (7.8 with VAT) for land to build new facilities. The last payment, of €2 million, will be made in June this year. Therefore, 4.5 million plus the full VAT of the operation has already been paid (5.8 million in total).

The club still has to collect the last 12.9 million euros from Boost LaLiga, the amount set aside to construct a new building for the first team and new natural grass pitches. This money will arrive in the second half of 2024 or, in other words, at the start of the 24-25 season. Likewise, a new main field will be built with more capacity than the current Tajonar to cover the obligations set by the RFEF for both the reserve team and the women's first team. Members will also benefit from the reform, gaining comfort and service within Tajonar. With this in mind, a parking lot will be built next to the facility for those who come to watch matches and training sessions.

These new facilities will allow the current natural grass pitches and the new ones to be available to the club's academy teams, improving training conditions and our players' adaptation to elite competition. Likewise, the project aims to transfer a large part of the club's office activity to Tajonar to unify the work centers and recover the spaces so that the members can enjoy the new facilities.
