Osasuna falls to RC Celta 3-0 at El Sadar

Goals by forwards Strand Larsen, Anastasios Douvikas, and midfielder Luca de la Torre handed the win to the visiting side.

Pamplona (Sunday, February 4, 2024) – Club Atlético Osasuna (7-5-11, 26 points) fell 3-0 to RC Celta (4-8-11, 20 points) at El Sadar on Sunday afternoon. Los Celestes picked up the three points thanks to forwards Stand Larsen, Anastasios Douvikas, and midfielder Luca de la Torre.

Osasuna started the game looking for an early goal as by the eighth minute, forwards Raúl García and Ante Budimir had already knocked at goalkeeper Vicente Guaita’s door. As time passed, the Galicians found some spaces between the rojillo backline. In the 24th minute, de la Torre played the ball to Larsen after a fast break, and the Norwegian player scored the day's first goal. A minute later, it was Larsen who passed it to de la Torre with a cross from the right side to tap the ball. Osasuna tried to close the gap, but the visiting defenders cut every attempt by los rojillos. In the last minute of the first half, García fired a volley following a cross by defender Jesús Areso, but his shot went over the crossbar.

In the second half, head coach Jagoba Arrasate made some adjustments in his tactics as he looked for a comeback. Midfielder Pablo Ibáñez and defender Juan Cruz tried with a shot from outside the 18-yard box in the early minutes, but both attempts missed the target. Arrasate made some changes to create more damage from the flanks, but Celta’s backline continued to be a force. As the game ended, Celta got on a counterattack, and Douvikas sealed the game for his team.

Osasuna’s next game will be on Saturday, February 10, against Real Sociedad at Reale Arena. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m. CET (3:15 p.m. GMT/10:15 p.m. ET).
