“We all want to win,” head coach Jagoba Arrasate

Tajonar, Spain (Saturday, November 25, 2023) – Osasuna head coach Jagoba Arrasate addressed the media ahead of tomorrow’s matchup against Villarreal. Kickoff is set at 2 p.m. CET (1 p.m. GMT/8 a.m. ET). During the press conference, the gaffer spoke about the team’s approach to this game and analyzed the groguets.

For the rojillo boss, his team’s goal is clear: “We all want to win.” To achieve this goal, the team has been examining its areas for growth and where it has excelled. As they have been working on this, the head coach has seen that the team has found its best form for some lapses and wants his players to be more consistent.

“To win. We all want to win. When you win, every debate stops. People can say it's one or another when you are not winning. In the end, it's about finding our best form. There have been lapses where we've seen it, but we haven't been consistent,” Arrasate said. “Today, we already know where we excel and are vulnerable. We have to fix those areas and bring out our strengths. Granted, we always have to face a team who tries to stop us, so it's not always easy.”

Regarding the game plan, the Berriatua native wants the team to be as perfect as possible. To accomplish that, he wants to create more chances than the opponent, not allow the home team to play, and deserve the win.

“Our game plan is to find our best form. We have won two games against a great team under another coach,” the gaffer said. “We can do it; if we can, we will start believing it. But it all begins with finding our best form. We did well in our last game and want to continue with that. We want to create more chances, concede less, and deserve the win. You get closer to the three points if you play to deserve the win.”

Regarding the opponent, Arrasate acknowledged Villarreal’s change of managers this season and praised head coach Marcelino by calling him one of the best coaches in LaLiga. He is also aware of how dangerous the players in yellow can be.

“If they have changed their managers twice, it's perhaps because they haven't liked how the season is turning out. However, they indeed have great players and now one of the best coaches,” the 45-year-old coach said. “We are aware it will be a challenging game despite their results. We know about Marcelino's teams and the quality of their roster. Therefore, we know it will be a tough match.”
