Osasuna rescues a point against Las Palmas
Forward Ante Budimir scored his eighth goal of the season.
Pamplona (Saturday, November 11, 2023) – Club Atlético Osasuna (4-2-7, 14 points) drew 1-1 to U.D. Las Palmas (5-3-5, 18 points) at El Sadar on Saturday afternoon. The Canary Islands side took the lead with a goal by midfielder Alberto Moleiro, but three minutes later, forward Ante Budimir tied the match.
Led by Budimir, los rojillos tried to break the deadlock as the international had three opportunities. In the 13th minute, the swan collected a through ball from forward Chimy Ávila, but Las Palmas' defense blocked his left footed shot. Five minutes later, he tried again; however, this time, his header went over the crossbar. In the 38th minute, defender Johan Mojica sent a cross from the right flank to find the Croatian international, but his header was parried away on the line by goalkeeper Álvaro Valles.
Four minutes after the second half started, defender David García headed a corner kick from Ávila, but Valles placed a hand on the ball and denied the chance to los rojillos. Despite having the ball and creating chances, the Navarrese side fell behind on the score when Moleiro placed his right footed shot in the top right corner of the goal. Once behind, los rojillos did not stop fighting and, three minutes later, tied up the match with a header by Budimir. For the rest of the match, los rojillos continued to press the visiting side but couldn't find the back of the net.
Osasuna will return on Wednesday, November 15, to face Deportivo Alavés in a friendly match at 11:30 a.m. CET at Mendizorroza. Due to the international break, Osasuna will not have any official matches until Sunday, November 26, when they visit Estadio de la Cerámica to face Villarreal FC in Week 14 of LaLiga EA Sports.
