Osasuna and Sevilla play to a scoreless draw

Los rojillos recorded their second clean sheet of the season.

Pamplona (Saturday, September 23, 2023) – Club Atlético Osasuna (2-1-3, 7 points) tied 0-0 with Sevilla FC (1-1-3, 4 points) at El Sadar on Saturday afternoon. A solid defensive effort by los rojillos allowed the team to record its second clean sheet of the season.

Osasuna started the match by creating opportunities and putting goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland in danger. In the 15th minute, following a breakthrough, forward Chimy Ávila tried with a shot from 18 yards out, but the defense blocked the attempt. Two minutes later, midfielder Lucas Torró tried, but his shot went over the crossbar. Sevilla tried with a shot from forward Lucas Ocampos, but it went wide. The most apparent chance for Osasuna came in the 40th minute when defender Johan Mojica sent a low cross to Ávila, whose shot went high.

In the second half, los rojillos had the first opportunity early when defender Rubén Peña saw the visiting defense block his shot. In the 62nd minute, Ávila shook the woodwork with a shot from a close distance. Sevilla reacted and put goalkeeper Sergio Herrera to work when the rojillo goalie saved a dangerous free kick by midfielder Joan Jordán.

Osasuna will return to El Sadar on Thursday, September 27, at 9:30 p.m. CET (8:30 p.m. BST/3:30 p.m. ET) as the team hosts Atlético de Madrid in Week 7 of LaLiga EA Sports.
