Osasuna acquires defender Johan Mojica on loan
The Colombian international joins the rojillos on a season long loan.
Club Atlético Osasuna and Villarreal Club de Fútbol have agreed to see defender Johan Mojica join los rojillos for the 2023-24 season, the club announced today. The deal does not include a purchase option, but the rojillos will pay 100,000 euros for the loan to the groguet institution. The Colombian international will report for camp on Monday and will be presented on Tuesday at El Sadar.
Johan Andrés Mojica Palacio arrives at Club Atlético Osasuna to reinforce the left back position, although his offensive projection allows him to also play as a winger. The Colombian international is a fast, physically powerful player with an excellent left footed shot. He comes from a club with great potential, Villarreal, who bought his rights from Elche last summer, where he had emerged as one of the most important players in LaLiga EA Sports in his position.
This upcoming season will be his 10th in Spanish soccer, where in addition to the Castellón and Elche teams, he has played for Rayo Vallecano, Valladolid, and Girona. In this period, he has only had one adventure in another country, which was to play for Atalanta, with whom he played in the Champions League. Before he arrived in LaLiga, where he has accumulated 231 games, Mojica came up through Academia Fútbol Club de Bogotá ranks and then Deportivo Cali.
The Colombian has played 22 games for the Colombian national team. He made his international debut in 2015 in a friendly match against the national team of Bahrain, in which he managed to score and give an assist. He had an outstanding participation in the 2018 World Cup, where he played all the minutes until his team lost on penalties to England in the round of 16.
