“We have to snap out of it, and tomorrow is our first chance,” head coach Jagoba Arrasate

The rojillo boss addressed the media ahead of tomorrow’s match against Real Betis

Tajonar, Spain (Saturday, May 4, 2024) – Osasuna head coach Jagoba Arrasate addressed the media before tomorrow’s home match against Real Betis (2 p.m. CET/1 p.m. BST/8 a.m. ET). “We have to snap out of it, and tomorrow is our first chance,” the rojillo gaffer stressed.

Regarding his team, Arrasate said, “We played well against Valencia. In Vallecas, our second half was not as good, but we should have gotten a different result. However, whatever I say regarding our last game will not hold after the second half we did, which can’t happen again because that isn’t Osasuna, and we are not that.” “It hurts because no one wants to live through that, so we must find a way to fix it. We have to continue to work, look into what happened, snap out of it, and tomorrow is our first chance at doing so against a talented opponent. They are fighting for a spot in Europe next year, and we must be ready. There is still a lot at play in the next five games, and if we do what we did, forget about being a contender, we won’t even have a chance,” he explained.

The Berriatua native added, “The team is focused, and we have to be after what happened the other day – having the attitude is the first step. Get them focused, accepting their responsibility - like I do - and help them find a solution.” “That’s a good first step and the best way possible. We have to asses what happened and, from there, fix the situation so it doesn’t happen again. We’ve taken the first step. It’s been a productive week, but we must react tomorrow.”

Regarding the match, the 46-year-old coach highlighted, “We have to attack better, be better at progressing and be efficient.” “It’s always clinical to be sharp, especially in these games against supposedly better opponents. It all starts with what we can create. If we create more, we have more chances, and then it’s about being sharp. Right now, we are not thinking about how many goals we have scored in the last matches; we are thinking about how we can damage Betis, and if we succeed, then we have to be clinical when in front of goal,” he added.
