BIOGRAFÍA

Oier

Oier Sanjurjo Maté (25 May 1986; Estella, Navarra) is the first captain of Osasuna since January 2019, when he succeeded Miguel Flaño as the team's armband bearer. He arrived at the red entity at youth age from Club Deportivo Izarra, with which he achieved a promotion to the Honor Division. After a season on loan at Club Deportivo Burladés in the Third Division, he made his debut with the Academy team in the 2005/06 season.

On December 12, 2007, he finally made his debut with Osasuna's first team. It was in a round of 32 of the King's Cup final against Real Club Deportivo Mallorca. Since then, the player from Estella has defended the Navarrese club continuously except for the 2011/12 season, when he was loaned out to Real Club Celta de Vigo, which he helped to promote to the First Division. After his stay in Balaídos, he became an unquestionable part of the team.

His versatility has allowed him to play as a centre-back, wing-back or midfielder. His leadership ability, tactical intelligence and physical display are the main virtues of one of Osasuna's most important players in the last decade.
