Three out of three away wins. Club Atlético Osasuna won again outside El Sadar and, in the same way as in Cádiz, with an epic comeback (2-3). The rojillos beated Real Club Deportivo Mallorca in a match in which, although Osasuna hit first with Cote’s goal, the hosts turned the game before the break. In the second half, Iñigo Pérez’s magnificent free kick found Javi Martínez, who sentenced the match with a stunning header. The VAR added some thriller in the extra time cancelling the penatlty that Ortiz Arias gave to the home team.

The beggining of the first half was very different from the end. Osasuna started dominating and Oier had a chance in the first minutes. In the 9th minute, the rojillos took the lead thanks to a goal from Cote. The left back controlled the ball thirty meters away from the goal and scored with a stunning strike. However, the hosts equalised the score three minutes later with Dani Rodríguez’s goal from a corner kick.

The draw didn’t affect Osasuna’s moral, who looked insistenly for the second goal. Moncayola’s right footed shot from outside the box forced a good safe out of Greif. After that, Oier had three chances of enlarging the advantage. The Captain received some good balls from Iñigo Pérez and the debutant, Jesús Areso, but couldn’t score.

But the extra time of the first half was fateful for Osasuna. Those were the best minutes of the hosts, who had numerous opportunities of scoring, until Fer Niño finally beated S. Herrera just before the break. A circumstance over which Jagoba Arrasate’s side had to get during the second half.

A pinpoint free kick

Later on, a shot from Cote, very similar to the first one of the rojillos, forced another safe from Greif. However, the keeper couldn’t do anything when a pinpoint free kick from Iñigo Pérez got into the top corner.

With the 2-2, both teams became more prudent, and focused themselves on defending. Osasuna had a very good chance in the 85th minute with a header from Nacho Vidal in the first ball he touched after replacing Jesús Areso. The ball went just wide of goal, but only three minutes later it took part the most decisive action of the match.

Joy and relief

In another counterattack, Manu Sánchez got the rebound from a shot from Rubén García. The cross from the left back found Javi Martínez inside the box, who glanced the ball and put it beyond the reach of the keeper.

However, the thriller was present until the end. In the extra time, the referee gave a penalty to Mallorca and the VAR cancelled it because there was an offside before. Osasuna reaches with this win nine out of nine points outside El Sadar. Next Saturday, the 2nd of october, Osasuna will play at 14:00 against Rayo Vallecano at El Sadar.
