Osasuna was unable to add points from their visit to the Wanda Metropolitano in a game in which Jagoba Arrasate's men gave their all and came close to returning to Navarre with a bigger prize. The rojillos, who defended fiercely, took the lead in the 75th minute with a great header from Budimir. However, Atleti went on the attack to try to turn the game around and, in the 82nd minute, Renan Lodi equalised. Suarez pounced on a ball into the box with the normal time approaching the end of the half, making it 2-1.

Simeone's side tried to take possession at the start of the game and laid siege to S. Herrera's goal is a good start by the home side. Osasuna held their own, although they lacked more possession to generate options. The best chances went to the home side, who came up against a very inspired Sergio Herrera and a defence that, as the minutes went by, became more and more accurate until they stopped all Atleti's attempts, who tried again and again out of the need for victory.

The rojillos went in at half-time with the score at 0-0 and with the conviction that the chance to take the lead would eventually come. After the restart, things continued in the same way, although the home side came up against a very accurate block in all its actions and hardly conceded any chances. In addition, every successful attacking move from the home side ended up in the domain of S. Herrera, who was once again on hand to intervene when his side needed him.

Another Budimir header

As the minutes ticked by, Atlético de Madrid went on the attack in search of a goal to keep them at the top of the table, although Osasuna was able in the second half to stretch a little further in search of a goal. And so it was Osasuna, who believed in their idea and found the reward. In the 75th minute, the ball fell to Rubén García on the left flank. The 'Joker' sent a remote-controlled cross to the head of Budimir, who shot violently. Oblak reacted and saved the ball. However, the VAR corrected the assistant referee's decision and the referee indicated a goal, as the ball had clearly crossed the goal line. The 0-1 scoreline turned the game on its head and while Osasuna clung on to the deficit tooth and nail, Atleti went on the attack in search of a comeback. In the 82nd minute, after a move down the left flank, Renan Lodi was presented before S. Herrera and the Brazilian beat the goalkeeper with a powerful shot against which the rojillo goalkeeper could do little.

Atleti gave their all in search of victory against an Osasuna side that defended with everything they had. However, in the 88th minute, Suárez latched onto a low cross from Carrasco and sent the ball into the back of the net. With the score at 2-1, Simeone's men retreated into their own half and the Navarrese, as the chant goes, did not give up. Jagoba Arrasate's men threw themselves into the attack and had two chances to have equalised. The first of these was Ramalho's chance after a great cross from Rubén García was blocked by the defence. The 'fifteen' tried a volley from the edge of the area that was met with a good response from Oblak. The last occasion for Osasuna was embodied by Chimy Ávila, who received the ball on the edge of the box in the rojillos' last attacking move and struck a powerful shot that was saved by the goalkeeper. The final whistle blew and the game ended with a 2-1 scoreline. Club Atlético Osasuna's next match will be on Sunday 23 May at 18:00 against Real Sociedad at El Sadar in the last game of the season for a team that will conclude its journey reached port with its objective fulfilled.
