Club Atlético Osasuna has reached an agreement with Cote, who has been released after finishing his contract with Sociedad Deportiva Eibar. The Asturian left-back will sign a contract for the next two seasons, until 30 June 2023. His termination clause will be 15,000,000 euros in LaLiga Santander.

José Ángel Valdés Díaz (5 September 1989; Gijón, Asturias), whose sporting name is Cote, is a talented left-back. He began his career at C. D. La Braña before leaping the youth ranks of Sporting de Gijón in 1997. In the 2008-2009 season, he made his debut with the first team in the Copa del Rey, and in February 2009 he made his debut in the First Division. However, his definitive arrival to the first team did not take place until the 2009-2010 campaign. His enormous evolution with the Asturian team did not go unnoticed, and in 2011 he was signed by A. S. Roma.

The following year he was loaned by the Italian club to Real Sociedad, participating in the great season of the San Sebastian team, which finished fourth and qualified for the Champions League. The Guipuzcoans managed to keep the player on loan for another year. Roma and Porto agreed on his transfer in 2014. After two seasons with the Portuguese side, he was loaned to Villarreal C. F. in 2016-2017 and, finally, in 2017, he signed for Sociedad Deportiva Eibar, where he remained until this past June 30th.

He was also an international with the U-21 national team, winning the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in 2009 and the European U-21 champion in 2011.

He has 199 appearances in the Spanish top flight and 27 Serie A games and 14 games in the Portuguese league. He has also made three Champions League and 10 Europa League appearances. In La Liga, he has four goals and 19 assists, which is one of the aspects he has excelled at in his career thanks to his excellent passing. In addition to his defensive qualities, Cote is a player who is easy to bring into the attack and is capable of providing good crosses for the strikers from any distance. He has proved this over the last four years at Eibar, where he has been a key player in building Jose Luis Mendilibar's side's powerful wing play.

The Asturian has now opted to join Club Atlético Osasuna, having terminated his contract with the Armeros, and is ready to play a key role in helping the rojillo side achieve their objectives.
